Emergency Press Conference in Chaman Against Arrest of ANP Provincial President Asghar Khan Achakzai, Demand to Review Decision

Against the arrest of Awami National Party’s (ANP) Provincial President Qadarman Mashar Asghar Khan Achakzai, the acting Provincial President Senator Nawab Arbab Umer Farooq Kasi, along with central and provincial leaders, addressed a crowded emergency press conference today at the Chaman Press Club.
Addressing the press conference, Senator Arbab Umer Farooq Kasi said that they are people who believe in the constitution and the law, and if they are not provided justice, they will consider their future course of action.
He said it is extremely unfortunate and strange that a father himself testifies in court and gives an affidavit stating that Asghar Khan Achakzai is not an accused in their case, despite that his arrest is regrettable.
He said, “We believe that such actions will not push us towards violence. On the very first day, the provincial president had foiled the planning of state institutions and had directed all workers to remain peaceful.”
He said that the government cannot silence their voice. The government should focus on the grave law and order situation in the province, where no one’s life and property is safe. Creating provocation through such measures is not wise.
He demanded that the court should review its decision. He said that Chaman in particular and the entire province in general is already facing various problems and difficulties due to the closure of the border.
